Velocity Unveils New Modernized 1967-68 Convertible Mustang Line

The new Convertible Package for Velocity’s Coyote-powered Signature Series Mustangs includes a motorized soft top in multiple colors

Pensacola, Fla. (May 20, 2024) – Velocity, an industry leader in classic vehicle modernization, has announced a new convertible option for its Signature Series Mustang lineup. The highly sought-after 1967-68 Ford Mustang Fastback has been beautifully restored to seamlessly blend the iconic style of the classic with modern components found in late-model Mustangs. A brand-new Convertible Package for Velocity’s modernized Mustang was unveiled on May 17th at the Cars of 30A VIP event in Inlet Beach, Florida. The new offering now allows customers to customize their Mustangs with a motorized soft top and a color-matched interior.

The new Velocity Signature Series Ford Mustang Convertible Package lets owners experience the joys of open-air driving, similar to Velocity’s Bronco and K5 Blazer builds. The top utilizes the original design of a late ‘60s Mustang convertible with new electric motors and hydraulics for hassle-free opening and closing. It is available in multiple color options that can be matched to a bespoke leather interior. The colors at launch include brown, tan, black, and cream.

Under the hood, the Velocity Signature Series Mustang is powered by a Gen III Coyote 5.0 engine delivering 460 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Power is transferred to the wheels via a 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission or a T-56 six-speed manual transmission for those who want additional control. The Velocity Mustang has been optimized for performance with a proprietary serpentine system, custom headers and stainless-steel exhaust with Borla mufflers that provide an aggressive tone.

The Velocity Mustang rides on a brand-new Roadster Shop Mustang SPEC chassis, providing exceptional stability and handling. Rack-and-pinion power steering, a front sway bar and a SPEC independent front suspension contribute to the responsive ride. The four-link rear suspension with front and rear adjustable Fox coilovers allows the Mustang to ride and handle better than ever. A Ford 9-inch rear axle with a 3.73 gear ratio enhances performance, while the 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels wrapped in 255/45 ZR17 Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 tires provide grip whether cruising or hitting the track. Baer four-piston calipers with 11-inch rotors and a Bosch Electric iBooster ensure the Mustang stops on a dime.

The exterior of the Velocity Signature Series Mustang Fastback is clad in custom BASF Glasurit paint colors and is available with optional painted racing stripes for a more pronounced look. A vented hood with marker lights helps to keep engine temps down and adds a race-ready look. Chrome accessories, a color-matched painted firewall and chrome bumpers elevate and accentuate the classic look of the Mustang. Truck-Lite LED headlights illuminate the street at night, and sequential LED taillights bring a touch of modernity to the pony’s rear. All-new glass, weather seals and billet hood hinges by Ringbrothers round out the exterior features.

Inside the Mustang, Velocity’s in-house design team has crafted a luxurious cockpit filled with both nostalgia and modern comforts. Procar front bucket seats provide comfort and support, while a fixed rear bench seat allows extra space. Heated and ventilated seats and a premium leather option are available for an even more luxurious ride. The molded carpet with Velocity floor mats and wrapped door panels provide an opulent and inviting atmosphere, while Dynamat sound deadening helps suppress road noise. Climate control comes courtesy of the Vintage Air air-conditioning system, while a RetroSound head unit cranks tunes through four Focal speakers and a subwoofer for immersive audio. A classic wood steering wheel, IDIDIT tilt steering column, Dakota Digital gauges, and brushed metal and chrome interior components complete the cabin details. Optional billet interior and exterior packages are available for those who want a more refined look.

“The Cars of 30A event was the perfect place to unveil this new addition to our lineup,” said Velocity CEO Stuart Wilson. “A convertible option for our Signature Series Mustang has been highly requested ever since we launched the Mustang last year. With summer right around the corner, we can’t wait to get these in the hands of our customers to enjoy the open road.”

The Velocity Mustang Convertible Package is available as a $30,000 upgrade to the Signature Series Mustang. The Velocity Mustang is part of Velocity’s Signature Series lineup, standing alongside the classic Bronco, F-250, F-100 and K5 Blazer lines. Each Signature Series vehicle is built in-house on an unprecedented 16-week timeline from order to delivery.
