if he were to swap Red Bull for Mercedes, who have struggled for performance this season, he would likely walk away from a potential title in 2025.
“I know for myself that if I drive for 5th or 6th [place], you get pretty grumpy with yourself,” he explains.
“So it’s always about performance. I mean, everybody knows that, Toto [Wolff] knows that too.”
“My future is currently within Red Bull.”
Asked if he thought it was strange that Wolff was being publicly presented as a potential replacement for Lewis Hamilton, he replied: “No, because I think everyone should always be optimistic and hopeful about things.”
“But right now I can say that I want to stay with the team because I believe in the project we have with everyone involved.”
