Everything You May Have Missed from W15 Launch

The familiar sight and sound of a Formula One car at Silverstone in February can mean only one thing: Our 2024 season has officially begun.

Months of designing, manufacturing, building and painting at our Brackley and Brixworth factories finally concluded on Wednesday, as we launched our F1 W15 to the world for the very first time at Silverstone, the home of the British Grand Prix.

With all the buzz and excitement of launching a new car, it’s easy to lose track of everything that has gone on, so here’s a quick recap of what you may have missed from our launch day.

It all started with the big moment itself – the launch of the W15. You can recap the reveal on our YouTube channel: Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team

With the car launched, it was time to hit the track, giving Lewis and George a chance to shake the car down in a 15km demo run. This is an important milestone in our season, as all the hard work from the team members at Brackley and Brixworth comes together on track for the first time.

Given the distance limitations of a demo day, we completedfive total laps of the International layout of the Silverstone track. The W15 will have another chance to be put through its paces in full in Bahrain next week.

Our 15th season in Formula One comes off the back of a P2 finish in the 2023 Constructors’ standings. While we know it will be no easy task, the team is ready for the challenge ahead.

But, what about the car? The highlight and focal point of the day itself. Our W15 livery this year is a move back toward the Silver Arrow feel on the front nose, with the black design of more recent years remaining on the rear of the car.

New season, new car, and of course we want to make sure our fans are kitted out for the year ahead too. W15 reveal day also marked the launch of our new 2024 teamwear collection, which you can shop on the Team Store right now!
