The second session in Barcelona took place in ideal conditions, which allowed the drivers to get to know even more clearly the upgrades they brought to the track towards which the season practically turns. Nico Hulkenberg returned to his car in this session after Oliver Bearman was in his car in the first session.

Among the first drivers, Lewis Hamilton recorded a measured time of 1:15.057 on medium tires. Most drivers started on medium tires, and there was a big crowd in the first minutes.

After Hamilton, Norris came out on top, then Russell with a time of 1:14.089, while Max Verstappen again complained about problems with the car. The three-time champion soon had to go to the pits after the pit wall called him. Russell kept the leading position in the first period, while behind him were: Norris, Hamilton, Verstappen and Sainz.

Logan Sargeant was first to set the time on the soft tires, while Oscar Piastri was called by McLaren to return to the pits as soon as possible to check the suspicious situation on the MCL38.

Sainz was the first driver from the top teams on soft tires to record a measured time of 1:13.286. Zhou complained to Tsunoda for blocking him in a quick round. Lewis Hamilton is slightly later 1:13.264 time.

In Red Bull’s garage, and the one where Sergio Perez is, there was a lot of work by the mechanics, but soon Verstappen came in for repairs. Perez came back and drove a fast lap, but only in 13th position. Hamilton remained the leader after fast laps on soft tires, while behind him were: Sainz, Norris, Gasly Verstappen.

After the qualification simulation, the drivers turned to the last part of the session, in which they performed long stints . Some of the average times after 13 laps on soft tires for Lando Norris was 1:20.1, while Max Verstappen went 1:20.2 on medium tires with fewer laps.
