The British company for tuning and “electrification” of classic cars, eDub , has installed Tesla’s electric motor in the Volkswagen Golf GTI 2.
The performance of the legendary Golf “two” has been improved, the car is more environmentally friendly, but the modification was peppery.
The original 1.8-liter petrol from the Golf 2 GTI with 112 hp has been replaced by 100% electric drive. eDub offers two power levels: 164 hp or 274 hp.

In addition, customers can opt for the 35 kWh e30 battery or the 54 kWh e50 battery – the larger one provides a driving autonomy of around 275 km.
Certain changes were also made to the interior of the car, so the manual transmission lever and clutch pedal were removed from the passenger cabin, and the instrument panel was adapted to the new drivetrain.
Finally, when the line is drawn, the retrofitting of the Golf 2 GTI ranges from around € 60,000, for the e30 package, to € 65,000 in the e50 version.

The eDub company is already working on other classic cars, such as the BMW 700 or even the Porsche 911, and in total offers a range of five powertrains with power up to as much as 608 hp and a battery capacity of up to 80 kWh.
