Having rolled just 24 miles from new, this 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 still has all the delivery plastics and labels affixed. The bottom line here is that it doesn’t get much newer than this 8-year-old GT500. Finished in black, this GT500 is a stripe-delete car, accommodating the glass-panel roof. Goodyear Eagle F1 tires wrap black SVT alloy wheels, creating an overall look that is very stealthy, even somewhat intimidating, with only glints of brightness appearing in just brief moments in the form of a coiled cobra logo on the front fenders and grille.
The 2014 GT500 was a very new animal compared to the previous generation, with a new 5.8L/662 HP supercharged V-8 engine and Tremec 6-speed manual transmission propelling the car with fabulous ease. It sprinted from 0-60 MPH in just over 3 seconds, completed the quarter-mile in just over 12 seconds at about 125 MPH and topped out at 200 MPH. It had indeed graduated to the supercar territory. The media especially praised the absolute thrust of torque delivered by the new Shelby, with everyone agreeing it was more than just a vast improvement over the previous iteration—it was a night and day difference.
