The current S550 Ford Mustang has been on sale for eight years, and just a few months ago, news arrived of its replacement. Now that we know the new Mustang is on the way, we wonder what it will look like. The YouTube channel TheSketchMonkey tried to answer that question in its latest video, creating a digital display of the next generation of Ford’s popular model.
After the original model came out in the 1960s , the Mustang slowly began to lose its identity. The Mustang II from the 1970s became “softer” along the lines and lost some power. The Fox Body of the 80s and 90s began to lose Mustang’s classic design features and proportions. At the time New Edge appeared in the late ’90s, it was a Mustang only by badge. But that all changed with the 2005 Mustang, and since then the Mustang has increasingly regained its identity.
However, based on the latest spy photos, the S650 seems to follow the trend of the current S550 Mustang. The new generation seems to be losing even more visual weight, relying on the all-encompassing design language of its bulkier predecessors. Modeled after the Mustang Mach-E , TheSketchMonkey envisions a sportier design compared to the “more muscular”, with slender headlights and a rounded grille at the front combined with similar proportions of the outgoing S550.
Overall, the digital display looks credible, and we could really expect something like this. However, we are not sure if we would be thrilled. It seems that only time will tell, and we will just have to wait for the premiere scheduled for 2024 or 2025.
