Opel Company last September presented Astra OPC Line, but it brought only visual changes. The buyers who want something more have to wait until the second half of 2017 i.e. the new OPC version with plenty of mechanical improvements and more aggressive outlook.
Opel already announced that the new Astra OPC will be out on the market later this year, and it is also known that the old 2.0 l engine will be replaced with a new 1.6 l engine. The main reason for that change is that there is less space under the hood now. But the chief engineer of this model Marc Schmidt announced a new project where a bigger engine can be placed under the hood. The old Astra OPC possesses engine that can produce 280 hp and 400 Nm and that power is transferred to the front wheels. Although the new model won’t have more power, it will be significantly faster because it will be lighter than the old OPC. It can accelerate up to 100 km/h for less than 6 sec with max speed of 250 km/h. The new Astra OPC will be presented in September at the exhibition in Frankfurt, and the official photos will be released earlier this year.
