The Brit talked about the first moments after the race at Yas Marina.
Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen had a great fight during 2021 that went to the last limits and in the very end the decision fell on the final race in the last lap. The Mercedes driver was convincingly leading all the way to the finish when the safety car was thrown out due to Nicholas Latifi accident, after which the Dutchman in Red Bull had the opportunity to change tires and take the much faster soft component. After the restart, Verstappen went around Hamilton and managed to defend this position until the very end. After crossing the start-finish line in Red Bull, there was a big celebration, while in the garage of Mercedes there was a huge disappointment.

“When I saw how things started to unfold, my worst fears came to life.” Hamilton . “I was in good shape, there is no way that someone could deceive me in this way.”
Also, he was asked how he felt in the car.
“I don’t know, I can’t put into words the feeling I had. I know I remember just sitting there in disbelief. I realized that I should have taken off my seat belts and gotten out of the car, I have to do these things and find the strength to do it. I didn’t have the strength. Those were my most difficult moments, I would say, I had that feeling for a long, long time.” added the Mercedes driver.
