Some media report that the boycott of the FIA gala evening could cost Hamilton already in Bahrain.
The FIA has a clear rulebook according to which the three best placed drivers from the championship must attend the award ceremony during the gala dinner at the end of each season. If someone does not show up unjustifiably, the consequences are possible. The British Express writes that Hamilton could, at best, start the Bahrain GP only from the 11th position.
New FIA President Mohammed Ben Salayem has already spoken out about the incident. He said the FIA would review the case soon and take action if necessary. The FIA seems to want to take a strong stance and send a clear message to all drivers with a severe penalty.
