The Mercedes driver recorded the seventh starting position.
George Russell caused a small shock in the qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix as he managed to get the first starting position while his teammate had technical problems.

“Congratulations Georg. It’s a good result for the team, considering what we’ve been through. This is a huge thing.” Hamilton told Sky Sports. “I tried to open the DRS in my quick attempt but it didn’t work. Unfortunately. I felt good, I knew I could get to the front row. It would be nice if they just entered the first starting row for the team. Still, these things happen.”
