You probably remember that decision of Ford from a few years ago to completely eliminate the offer of passenger cars and to concentrate exclusively on profitable SUVs, crossovers and pickup trucks. Only the Mustang remained, but at the same time it was announced that the American giant was ready to create its own subbrands, or in translation in some simpler language, to design the entire range of vehicles that are connected.
For example, there is the already popular F Series which includes the F-150, SuperDuty (F-250, F-350 and F-450) and the larger HeavyTrucks (from F-550 upwards). The popular Bronco already provides two- and four-door configurations, while we are also waiting for its release as a pickup truck. Who’s next on the list? Well, if you believe the news on the Internet, no one but the Mustang.
As is well known, the popular athlete can already be ordered in a configuration as a coupe and a two-door convertible and an electric crossover under the Mach E. brand. test the competitive Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, and based on that we conclude that we will soon see a four-door Mustang.
Of course, the truth is rarely black and white, so even though Charger has four doors, it is still considered a Mustang’s competition, thanks to what it provides under the hood. Here you can find a 6.2-liter V8 engine that develops as much as 707 horsepower with the help of a compressor and provides a maximum speed of as much as 320 km / h.
Still, we can’t help but notice that the Charger is extremely popular with customers even in today’s times when all customers seem to want only crossovers. And during the crisis of 2020, over 77 thousand units were delivered, which is an impressive number for a car that debuted more than a decade ago and actually dates back to the 1990s (its platform was originally developed by Mercedes for the then E-Class W210 ).
The stories about the four-door Mustang are not foreign either. We wrote about it earlier in one of the interesting issues of the day, and during 2018, there was a current story that Ford will prepare a new sedan as a replacement for the outdated Taurus model. It was then rumored that the novelty should share the platform and mechanics with the Mustang, but provide its own identity. Of course, the whole story fell into the water and the car offer was completely eliminated.
The four-door Mustang certainly doesn’t sound appealing, but who could have guessed just a few years ago that we’d see his badge on an electric crossover? Where there is smoke, there is certainly fire, so we will certainly be happy with another sedan on a par with a legend such as the Dodge Charger Hellcat.’
