Renowned British driver Damon Hill is convinced that his compatriot Lewis Hamilton can win the title this season, despite the somewhat worse start to the Mercedes season.
Mercedes had problems in the first races, and has collected 38 points so far. In front is Ferrari with 78, and behind Red Bull with 37.
“There is always a chance for a team like Mercedes. “They can find solutions, improve their performance,” said Hill.
Mercedes has made the most of the new technical regulations.
“The second question is that when you look at their car, it has a slightly different design philosophy when it comes to aerodynamics. We hope they didn’t make a mistake. “Data show that the car should be good,” the former champion added.
Asked if Hamilton could win his eighth title, Hill replied:
“Of course, I don’t see why he could. It might be worth betting on Lewis Hamilton. “As I said earlier, this will be a long battle, but we will not remember the first races of this season when we are halfway there.”
The Formula 1 championship continues this weekend with a race in Australia.
