2018 Mazda CX-3 launched in Japan

Premiere of Mazda’s new SKYACTIV-D 1.8-litre diesel engine

Design enhancements and improved safety features refine Mazda’s mid-size SUV

Hiroshima / Leverkusen, 17 May 2018. Mazda Motor Corporation is now taking orders for the 2018 Mazda CX-3 in Japan. The redesigned model incorporates improvements in powertrains, design, handling and safety. It is also available as a new special edition that features deep red Nappa leather upholstery*.

A new SKYACTIV-D 1.8-litre diesel engine makes its first appearance in the 2018 Mazda CX-3, offering drivers both enhanced responsiveness and improved emissions performance. The SKYACTIV-G 2.0-litre gasoline engine now features the innovations first adopted in the updated CX-5, including edge-cut piston heads and high-dispersion injectors. These technical developments ensure ample torque throughout the entire rev range and contribute to better real-world fuel efficiency. Both engines meet the stringent new EURO 6 d-temp emission standards, including the real-drive emission test (RDE).

Design enhancements include an updated front grille, the adoption of LED rear combination lamps, new aluminium alloy wheels, and -making its premiere in the 2018 CX-3 line-up- Mazda’s unique colour, Soul Red Crystal. On board, a redesigned centre console with an electric parking brake (EPB) and a multi-box centre armrest enhance comfort and reduce fatigue.

The adoption of the latest developments in Mazda’s next-generation SKYACTIV-Vehicle Architecture has significantly evolved the new CX-3’s driving performance. Further suspension system tuning, newly developed tires and the use of higher-damping urethane in the front seat construction provide a quieter and more comfortable ride and an even more engaging driving experience.

Safety has also been significantly improved in the 2018 Mazda CX-3. It is the first model to adopt an updated version of Advanced Smart City Brake Support (Advanced SCBS), which has an enhanced ability to detect pedestrians at night. This, and other safety features such as Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with Stop & Go-function** and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, ensures a higher level of safety under all driving conditions.

The new, 2018 Mazda CX-3 will go on sale throughout Europe in the summer of 2018.
