1970 Shelby GT500 Fastback for sale at the Mecum Auctions To be sold at the Glendale,March 16-19, 2022. Beginning with the first major redesign of Ford’s wildly successful Mustang for 1967, Shelby’s SCCA B/Production-conquering GT350 began to quickly mature beyond its hard-edged competition roots. However, high performance continued at the core of the GT350 and its big-block stablemate, the 428-powered GT500. With the Mustang’s next significant restyling for 1969, the final-series GT350 and GT500 of 1969-70 retained their distinctive identities with aggressive styling cues and rich interior appointments upholding the model’s performance-oriented, limited-production character in the upscale grand touring vein, enhanced by deluxe high-back bucket seats and a floor console up front, wood-grain dash accents, Shelby and Cobra Jet emblems, and useful instrumentation.
